Rules for Comics Threads and How to Get One

Post by admin » Fri Dec 23, 2022 10:13 pm

RULES:
  1. Every comic will be allowed 1 thread and only 1 thread, if a creator has multiple comics they will have multiple threads. Multiple comics means distinct comics, not the same comic posted to various mirrors, even if the comic is altered from the original version.
  2. Only 1 link is allowed per update within the forum. Do not crosspost into the Tapas/WT/etc threads if you have your own thread. If you use both Tapas and WT, post only to which ever is your primary host.
  3. Do not "bump" your thread unless there is a new update. The act of "bumping" is replying multiple times in a row to a thread without another user in between, with the intent to boost visibility. Discussions, comments, etc are absolutely allowed and multiple replies are expected outside of bumping.
HOW TO GET A THREAD
  1. On the site where you host your comic, include a link to comixriot.com (see below if you need the HTML code). The link must be somewhere on a "permanent" or static section of your site. It can be on a sidebar, the footer, or even on a secondary page. It just cannot be in the one-time text updates that go along side the comic itself.
  2. NOTE: Access to posting in this forum is dependant on the link back to us remaining on your site.
  3. Create a thread in the Creator Threads request forum. Be sure to indicate where the link was included, especially if it is on a secondary page. This will make the process go much faster.
  4. A thread will be created for you by a moderator with the title of your comic.
FAQ

Why do I have to link back to you? Can't I just post here anyway?
We are ultimately a forum for networking, and it's hardly a network if we're just sending users out without bringing them in. This is beneficial to all users, though. Every creator who links to us provides the opportunity for bringing in new users to share with other creators. The more we grow, the more everyone grows. Everyone wins!

I only have WebToons/Tapas/etc page, can I still get a thread?
Unfortunately, no. Not at this time. Due to the nature of such sites, it's not possible to post a link in an obvious static area (and user profiles aren't always so visible). This forum is meant to fill the networking gap that most self-hosted comics have. Places like Tapas and Webtoons provide at the very least limited visibility every time a user posts, which means discoverability. Tapas also has their forum and a discord for promotion. We have provided group threads for users of these platforms to share. However, if you ONLY post to sites like these, perhaps consider creating a mirror on another free platform like Tumblr or ComicFury that would allow the inclusion of links.
